WHERE AND WHEN:
Friday September 20th, 9-10:30 AM via Zoom

In lieu of an event fee, please consider making a donation to the Board of Psychedelic Medicine and Therapies: https://psychedelicsboard.org/

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING:
Please join Dr. Darcy Constans and Ian Pocock, LICSW for a discussion on psychedelic medicine. We will review the history of this field, its current landscape, and future directions for research and clinical practice. Specific attention will be given to current available treatments, patient selection considerations, evidence review, and harm reduction. There will be an extended period of time for Q & A.

WHY:
With the popularization and new research on the potential benefits of psychedelics on mental health, as providers we need to be informed about this emerging field. Our clients are using psychedelics both formally under therapeutic guidance and also informally on their own. Note - this is not a training on using psychedelics in psychotherapy, rather this is an opportunity to be better educated so that if you learn about a client's psychedelic use,, you can help with safety, harm reduction, and integration as part of your therapy work.

MEET YOUR HOSTS:

Dr. Darcy Constans runs a holistic mental health practice offering psychiatric medication management, mindfulness therapy, and ketamine-assisted therapy. Ian Pocock has a private psychotherapy practice that includes ketamine-assisted therapy. In addition to being experienced ketamine therapy providers, both Darcy and Ian have trained in MDMA-assisted therapy through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Sciences (MAPS), sit on the community advisory board for the University of Washington’s Center for Novel Therapeutics in Addiction Psychiatry (NTAP), and have worked with the Zendo Project providing peer support for individuals having difficult psychedelic experiences. They will be clinicians on NTAP’s upcoming first ever WA state funded trial investigating the use of psilocybin for the treatment of co-occurring alcohol use disorder and PTSD in veterans and first responders.
