Meet Whitney Lynn Reeve

My therapy style is at its core connective, openminded, and openhearted, giving space for clients to be seen, heard, and understood.

Whitney Lynn Reeve

In my therapy, what has been getting in the way of you living life is the way—the path that starts the healing journey.  In each session you and I will take the time to sit with, get to know, and tend to the vulnerability inside you.  Together we give space and allow the hurt that has been pushed aside or drowned out to have a voice and tell its story.  We listen to and witness all the ways you have protected yourself while guarding against pain.  We come to understand the walls that keep you safe at the expense of authentic connection.  There is no agenda to change, fix, or solve these defenses—rather you will discover what it is like to be with whatever comes into the room without fear of being overwhelmed by it.

“Maybe the journey isn’t about becoming anything.  Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you.  So that you can be what you were meant to be in the first place.” – Paulo Coelho

What makes therapy with me meaningful and impactful is that it opens you to choice.  Now more than ever it is instinctual to close ourselves off and shut down; be activated, tense, and fatigued as we get pulled in different directions.  Stuck in painful cycles and unhealthy patterns, escapism can seem the only option.  And those reactions, impulses, and beliefs make sense in the world we live in.  But a limited perspective and a closed heart shrinks people and forces them into roles and personas that don’t fit, imposing distance and disconnection from themselves and others.

So if you’re curious about what it would be like if there was another way, one that isn’t just coping or pushing through, this could be the therapy you are looking for.  Whether you are stuck in dissociation, numbness, PTSD, depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts or compulsions/OCD, addictive behaviors, or self hatred and internalized oppression, I would love to work with you to uncover your true self.  I promise it is never too late to come back to yourself.

As a queer and neurodivergent therapist who lives my life outside societal norms and expectations in many ways, I know how important this journey home to yourself really is.  Once compassion towards myself terrified and eluded me, and I wasn’t comfortable directing such kindness and care inside, though it seemed to exist boundlessly for others.  There was a time when silence felt dangerous and sitting with my own thoughts was an impossible task.  In years of talk therapy and skills building nothing had worked.  I couldn’t break any cycles or heal my pain until I experienced Internal Family Systems Therapy combined with Narrative Therapy and Grief and Loss Counseling.

Now using the same therapies, I offer this gift to others.  I believe in not just living our lives, but loving them.  Me and you, our families, our communities—we all deserve to heal from complex trauma, historical and generational trauma, and attachment wounds.  To truly experience and express joy, to grow and to be.  I welcome all people—no identity or part is turned away, all of you is honored here.
